Provinces Independent Green Line Report To Come Later This Year Says Mayor After Meeting

Province's independent Green Line report to come later this year, says mayor after meeting

Mayor Fougere says the province has committed to releasing the report publicly

The province's independent Green Line report will be released later this year, according to Mayor Jim Fougere.

Fougere said he met with Transportation Minister Jill Saulnier on Tuesday to discuss the project and the report, which was expected to be made public in the spring.

Fougere is pleased with the province informing HRM that there will be a public release of the report, unlike the Halifax Harbour Bridges report which the UARB chose to keep confidential.

Project timeline remains uncertain

Fougere said in the meeting he pushed the minister for a firm timeline on the Green Line, but he did not receive one.

The mayor said he was told the province is still working on finalizing the business case for the project and that once that is complete, they will be able to provide a more具体的な timeline.

Fougere noted that the province has committed to releasing the report publicly, which he said is a positive step.

"I think it's important that the public has access to this information so that they can understand the rationale behind the project," he said.

Fougere has long been a supporter of the Green Line, which would connect Dartmouth to the Halifax peninsula via a new bridge over the harbour.

He said he believes the project is essential for the future of the region and that he will continue to push the province for a firm timeline.

The province has said it is committed to the Green Line, but it has not yet provided a timeline for the project.

The independent report is expected to provide more information on the project's costs, benefits, and risks.

The Green Line has been a controversial project, with some residents expressing concerns about its cost and environmental impact.

However, Fougere said he believes the project is necessary to improve transportation in the region and that the benefits will outweigh the costs.
